Not surprising, recruitment efforts and the advertised pay and benefits are looking fairly good. Have one friend who joined right after the lc, one who left uni after a year to join and i plan on trying to join after graduating uni as an officer

That and the current state of europe rn

Bizarre headline, applications have increased by 34%. Actual inductions is up from 708 to 788. I’m starting to wonder how some people become journalists.

Defence forces recruitment was a joke for years. I remember wanting to join in my twenties but was too old as until recently the maximum age you could be was 25 which is crazy low and not in line with other forces around the world (British army 49 years old, USA 42 years). They missed out on so many great people over the years because of their backwards policies and just the whole thing was a shit show.

They seem to be getting their act together at last, and last year they increased the maximum age to 39 years which is more reasonable. Unfortunately I’m not in a position to join now but would have loved to 10 years ago when I was 26.

War is coming. Either get ready for it now or get wiped out fast.

Great pay in the navy at the moment. After training I believe you can be on 60k with the sea pay.

Great to see after decades of the DF being ran into the ground. Morale in the place used to be rock bottom. Apparently it’s much much better now.

Thank god we will have somebody to stop the Russians doing all the bad things that they’ve been doing.

You don’t join the army for the money. That said more men are needed for sure to man all the new equipment boats etc.
