Well I for one am shocked, shocked I say……

“Ah sure t’will do” remains the default setting for Ireland as the stresses become greater.
But Fine Gael want higher salaries next year, and it’s very important we lick the boots of our overlords as we are sub human scum who keep voting them in even though they despise us. It’s the Irish way.
We’ll build the defences, the tidal barriers, the storm drains and all of that stuff AFTER the cities are underwater for a few years. You’ll get used to swimming. The Irish authorities can *only* be reactive, never proactive. The floods have to happen first, and then after we’ve wasted several hundred billion, we’ll build the infrastructure, but only in the most expensive way possible, having to retrofit it around some convoluted mess of unplanned development. We wouldn’t have it any other way!
Is there anything to be said for a public forum and an auld report? Or how about a study that goes on for 22 years? Then we could re-do the study and produce a few more reports.
