Can’t wait for people to pop up and say things like just eat less and it’s easy just go to the gym etc etc.

I would say 90% of us on here couldn’t resist food temptation on here this week and most skip the gym and exercise. It’s not as easy as it sounds at all.

    >Healthcare professionals were far less likely to refer people with obesity to specialists or to discuss treatments such as prescription medication or bariatric surgery than they were to dole out “generic lifestyle advice”, such as reducing calories or taking more exercise.

And this is why people don’t seek help.

I finally bit the bullet in 2024 and lost 2 stone by myself. Then nothing budged. Went on GPL1s in May and I’m almost down another 3 stone now 🥰

I believe that obesity should be classed as a mental illness related to food temptation, not feeling full or that it can be used as a coping mechanism for trauma/boredom

As an aside I think we should be teaching kids in school about food in general. So many people pick up bad habits/addictions etc from being fed processed shit as a Child and continuing those habits into college etc.

Maybe some public information campaigns about healthy eating  on a budget too. I’m not casting blame here, a lot of people think it’s impossible to eat healthily on a budget which really isn’t true at all.

I went to my gp a few years ago. I was overweight, and despite trying many many healthy eating plans I couldn’t lose a pound once I lost an initial stone.
Having PCOS and being menopausal I want to my GP who confirmed my thyroid was fine and I should try eating healthier. He dismissed my assurances that I was already eating healthy foods and in calorie deficit.
I’m getting my jabs online and without judgment and useless advice from my gp. Happier for it.

What’s the point of paying the GP 60 euro to hear that you need to eat less chocolate and exercise more? Other services such as subsidised exercise classes or dietician led clinics aren’t available and Irish GPs really won’t give GLP meds easily to anyone.

I got my bloods done recently. Reality is I’m a fat middle aged man and I was fully expecting to be told I’m diabetic and was being put on the prescription drugs. Turns out my bloods are ok so I just need to get my shit together and get healthier.

Probably as heavy as I’ve ever been right now but 2025 saw me get my teeth sorted despite not having been to the dentist on nearly 25 years. So that’s a win I guess.

It’s funny how we reserve all shame and judgement for obese people while so many other people have shitty diets and lifestyles but it doesn’t make them fat. Imagine treating a person with lung cancer like that just because they were a lifelong smoker. Everyone has vices.
