As a Romanian I can definitely and with utmost certainty tell you that we call it “Olanda”. I know that the correct way is “Țările de Jos”, but I can tell you 100% that unless you are an academic or a football commentator you never call it anything else than Olanda.

The alternative in Hungarian is Németalföld, which translates to ‘German Low Lands’. Simply ‘Alföld’ is not available since we already use that for our own plains (Great and Small Hungarian Plains).
I’m sure most Dutch prefer being collectively called Holland instead of German.

Thats just wrong. In switzerland we call it Holland 99% of the time. Italy uses Olanda as well. And I guess almost every other country uses that

I’m from Germany and all people I know call the Netherlands Holland aswell. I know it’s not the correct term, but that’s what everyone says. Isn’t it also what all football fans from the Netherlands chant? Hup, Holland, Hup. Never heard them refer to their nation as Netherlands.

In Polish the official name is Królestwo Niderlandów (Kingdom of Netherlands)but people still call it Holland in every day use, just like they call the UK Anglia (England)
