Yes, it is the same thing the Chinese do.
There are different ways of obtaining information. There is a beach somewhere in the world and the governments want to know what the beach is made out of.
The US would send a SEAL team in a submarine to get a scoop of sand to bring back and analyze.
China and Russia would send 1,000 tourists to collect one grain of sand each, then analyze it.
All three countries have used those techniques for decades and this is absolutely nothing new.
But here is where I get upset at Europe. Shut the border with Russia. Problem solved.

Why don’t they just develop their own technology? Why conduct Espionage?
Dont get me wrong, I am a 100% on Norway’s side but given that we are funding some of the equipment and war effort of Ukraine for seamingly no other good reasons than the diplomatic pressure Europe puts on Norway (and power and political gains of the corrupted politicians throwing norwegians people money), I feel like a bit of spying on Russia’s side is a… mild response ?
I mean we are doing quite a lot of spying on the behalf of the american when it comes to looking at Russias border province.
