Better to stop waiting. Putin only understands force. Stop Putin now, by overwhelming force.

Oh yes, another useful declaration

I’m curious how this helps things now?
Even if Ukraine was willing to give up territory to end the war, this would mean that the moment the war ends, Russia gets French and UK troops on their doorstep. It also makes attacking Ukraine in the future less of an option for Russia because that would draw in France and the UK into the war.
I’m not saying that there’s no other option and they shouldn’t have done this, but at least in the short term wouldn’t this prolong the war?

What the US and NATO should have been signing along with Ukraine.

Sort of incentivizes Russia to not end the war, or to transition it into a low level conflict if Russia reaches the point where it can’t conduct offensives anymore.
Europe needs to grow a pair and start with deploying troops to guard the border with Belarus or man air defenses west of the Dnipro, something.

Both the nuclear powers, that’s definitely a strong signal.

So brave….we should of stormed Normandy AFTER the war…it would of saved so many lives.

This gives me a respectable glimmer of hope.
If Ukraine says, this is just, if the people of Ukraine say, this we can work with, then I shall cheer. I shall finally cheer.
And then Ukraine and her friends shall start demanding justice for these crimes, with full voice.

WHY NOT DEPLOY THEM NOW??
Jesus. I wish we (UK) would just grow some balls and actually fight. We used to be well up for a war.

Do it now and kick the Russians out of Ukraine.

Do it now, or there may not be a Ukraine after the war.

They could agree to put all of France’s strategic nuclear weapons in Ukraine “after the war” and nothing will happen.

Russia is probably shitting itself. “We have (another) NATO Base right on our border!!”
Suck it, Russia. You can’t be trusted. Ever.

Why wait? Send them now to garrison the western and northern parts of Ukraine, which would free up more Ukr forces to fight on the front lines.

So sorry, guys!
Honestly, it feels off that Germany wasn’t at the table for this. France and the UK stepping up together is a strong signal, no doubt. But Germany sitting on the sidelines again just leaves a gap.
I get the caution. I really do. Still, when it comes to shaping what comes after this war, presence matters. Decisions are being made, commitments are being shaped, and Germany could have helped steer that in a meaningful way.
Not sending troops and not signing on sends a message too. And I’m not sure it’s the one Germany should want to send right now. 🤷♂️

Ever have the feeling Zelenskyy leads a desperately frustrating life? Lots of offers of help that aren’t really all that helpful, but would be damn hard to call someone out on.

I’m not sure how valid this declaration is (that would depend on the text and how much of it is made into UK and France law, if any at all) but taken at face value this is a huge win in terms of guaranteeing that any peace accord will be part of a process that reinforce long term Ukrainian sovereignty regardless of all other factors.

How many troops have they each pledged 20,000 or more?

Good that they’re signing that, but the war has to end first. Everyone needs to truly help Ukraine win and end this war, because ruzzia never will. They are fueled by hubris.

They should do so now. Deploy to western Ukraine at the very least.

I’ll expect and hope that our new government (Netherlands) will sign as well, I understand that the current demissionary government abstained.

If reform come in to power which is likely after Starmer then everything that has been signed will become useless. Exactly the same as what Trump has done.

Place your bets ladies and gentlemen that Russia will condemn that tomorrow and Medvedev will once again unleash nuclear Armageddon warning from previous warning ⚠️

Europe should send troops now. And remember to the US that they did compromise to keep Ukraine sovereignty
