Can’t wait to hear why this still isn’t good enough.

The visa crackdown is related to people officially applying not illegal ‘asylum’ and economic migrants. The photo used with this title is completely misleading.

> Arrivals in UK of foreign workers and students fall by more than 100,000 in a year as exit by Britons surges
Typical Telegraph, have to squeeze in the blame while reporting on good news because we have a wrong kind of a government. Interesting though, the rest of the article is objective and sticks to the facts. The subheadings must have been an editorial decision, not the reporter’s choice.
Good now deport all the illegals, overstayers criminals and burdens on the UK tax system.

So labour have done more to reduce immigration in a year than the Tories managed in 14? You know the right wing party that reform are mostly made from, those guys?

They are cracking down on the legal standard visa route but the main issue is the antiquated asylum system that wasn’t at all designed for the 21st century.
I hope Starmer has the iron in him to change it to specific bespoke agreements for each situation (e.g. Gaza, Ukraine, Hong Kong etc.), each requiring parliamentary approval.

I looked at article and isn’t this figure just accounting for legal migration? Meaning those coming not through legal means aren’t included?

Why is there a picture of the dreaded small boats when that’s only 2% of the figure. I wonder why.

they have done well to reduce legal immigartion, by making it harder to get Skilled Worker Visa, and no free ILR for dependents. students aren’t coming either because jobs for students are just not there.
but still no solution in sight for the people who enter on boats, with no passports, no identification, etc.

That’ll annoy all the people being paid by Russia or US extremists, or home-grown Reform members.
Otoh, they’ll probably just focus on small boats and how lots of our cities are already controlled by Sharia Law or how Sadiq Khan is a spy or whatever.

But reddit keeps telling me that migration is happening because of Brexit?
Open door migration has been a choice by the politicians and as we are seeing it can be reduced. Still much more to go though and plenty of deportations to complete.
This is about the only good thing Labour have managed to do.

It’s scary how folk are just so fixated on issue and think that that is the sole issue and nothing but total deportation of anyone and anything will solve the Uks problems.

“Combined with record numbers of [British nationals leaving the UK](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/11/18/proof-tories-migration-crackdown-worked-conservatives/), the Home Office figures suggest the Government is on course to reduce net migration below 200,000″ So we are still just replacing Brits with foreigners, and marketing it as a victory. Fantastic

Hate to be that guy but it won’t fix anything.
