*Slight* headline editorialisation, substituting Ministers name for his title-role (for International readers)

Really? I seem to recall just earlier this week that higher than normal amounts of c-17 Globemasters were transiting through RAF bases.

But will gladly help in the reconstruction and help with oil exploration activities.
Typical British, always end up on the winning team.

How about Britain defends Greenland against a US attack?

The UK is a NATO member. So is Denmark. Greenland is a part of Denmark.

Therefore, if the US attack Greenland, and Denmark invokes Article 5, which is their right…

    # …the UK is required to defend Greenland against a US attack.

  5. Any Nation supporting the US in this lunacy would be pretty alone afterwards, as the US proves they know no allies. In a world where Trump willingly breaks Nato, Britain is better off siding with the remaining sane nations, other than the orange turd.

On the other hand, I don’t really think the us needs any foreign bases, as the annexation itself would be pretty easy and Greenland is in range of the US mainland.

The US talks about global power projection of its military, but if Europe were to cut off access to bases on the continent and overseas territories it would cripple a massive part of the US military logistical chain outside the Pacific.

American subs, ships and jets hop across the Atlantic via European territories, use England, Germany etc to hop further across the continent, and Spain, Italy etc to cross the Med.

European bases, co-ordination, refuelling are key to reaching allies/enemies in the Middle East and across the Indian Ocean, or conducting long distance bombing raids.

Even Air Force One stops and refuels at/utilises tankers flying from European territories.

Then there’s of course their intelligence/spy bases with big useful radar domes, again based in European nations and territories.

  7. It’s not really that important, who owns Greenland (population around 50,000), whether it’s Denmark or the USA. To be honest, let the switch happen tomorrow. It’s much more interesting to see, what happens next, than all the current posturing.

Goodness, I think I’m seeing a minister displaying signs of a backbone! Let’s hope it catches on.

    Conspiracy theory time!

What if Vladimir Putin had directed Donald Trump to start a war with his former NATO allies, and during that war Russia attacks Europe?!

So all that massive buildup of us military assets in the UK is not for Greenland? Maybe there’s another target they aren’t telling you about them?

As if that’s some sort of punishment. The UK and EU had better have a lot more planned than “we won’t let them use our bases to attack Greenland”

Yeah, I don’t trust them yet, de Gaulle has been right about a lot of things lately and I don’t trust the UK not to fold immediately to the US push came to shove.

Shouldn’t it be that if the US attacks Greenland, Britain won’t let the US use its bases at all.

What fucking gets me most is why isn’t every eiropean country already forcing the full evacuation of these bases?

We’re playing host to potentially enemy combatants.

This is going be be hugely unpopular but I don’t think Britain should be saying anything and should keep out of this. The US is more of the friend to the UK than any European country.

Cool beans, how about helping defending European Continent against US with other EU countries ?
