Nel marzo 2025 ho acquistato una bicicletta molto costosa Bergamont Grandurance 8 edizione 2022. In Europa occidentale questa bici, nuova, costa circa 2000€, ma io l’ho comprata in Bulgaria, da dove provengo e vivo, usata e “importata” dalla Germania per 750€. Era come nuovo ma usato un po’. L’affare era assolutamente strano. Chi venderebbe una bicicletta così costosa, importata da un altro paese, e la rivenderebbe a quel prezzo basso? Il venditore che ho trovato su Facebook. FF al 15 dicembre 2025, mi è stata rubata questa stessa bicicletta. Ieri ho trovato un annuncio per la stessa bicicletta in Serbia, stesso colore, stessa misura, stessi pneumatici. Pensavo che mi fosse stato rubato e importato in Serbia. Ho contattato il venditore e lui ha dimostrato che la sua bici è stata importata dalla Germania il 13 dicembre. Inoltre, i segni di usura sulle gomme e sul telaio non erano presenti, oh suo, come avevo sulla mia. La riverniciatura è impossibile poiché il colore è molto specifico: verde camaleonte, verde scuro di notte e verde chiaro di giorno. Ad ogni modo, quando ho trovato il venditore serbo su Facebook ho visto un amico comune: il venditore di biciclette bulgaro. La bicicletta serba costa ancora meno: 625€ che è un prezzo assurdo. tl dr Questi due ragazzi vendono biciclette che credo siano state rubate dalla Germania. Il ragazzo bulgaro ha più annunci per molte biciclette diverse. Non ho contattato la polizia a riguardo, solo per il mio che è stato rubato, ma hanno detto che il mio caso non ha importanza e che sono oberati di lavoro.

I mean, what is the big news here besides that you also potentially open yourself to being sued for defamation if you cannot prove those bikes were stolen?
it is worth to be a criminal, as long you dont steal too much from one person, no violence, no guns, no drugs, no videos, no public alarm, and no one cares.
get an insurance for next time. Police job in 2025 is to give you the paperwork so you can claim to the insurance. This is not Dubai or Singapore.

There was a case (I believe it was in Hamburg, Germany) where the Police raided a warehouse and confiscated hundreds of stolen bikes. Since more than 90% of them had not been claimed by the original owners, those had to be returned to the thieves. Unbelievable…
So you bought a bike thinking it was stolen?
Then it gets stolen from you, and now *you* complain?
In the past the bikes stolen ended up in Russia and the baltics. That some end up in the Balkans or in southeast Europe isn’t surprising.
Bike theft is split between drug addicts funding their habits and organised crime rings that steal for export and only take valuable bikes.
Get a good lock, check where you park your bike and you can reduce the chance.
There are documentaries about that matter.
It’s a whole industry.
They steal bicycles en masse in “”wealthy”” countries and sell them in eastern Europe.
The police couldn’t give less fucks about it, and on top of that the bicycle number isn’t track able beyond county borders.
Somebody should give the bicycle industry notes, that their revenue is significantly lower than possible because ppl in large cities refrain from buying expensive bikes because it’s too common for them to be stolen.
That’s probably the only way to get our useless politicians to do something against that problem.
