Tesla’s (TSLA.O) UK car registrations dropped by more than 29 per cent year-on-year in December, industry data has shown, underscoring the intense competition from Chinese rivals faced by the US electric vehicle maker in its largest European market.

The Elon Musk-led company’s UK registrations – a proxy for sales – fell to 6,323 units last month, according to New AutoMotive data. For 2025, Tesla’s UK sales fell 8.9 per cent year-on-year.

The drop echoed trends seen in other European markets, where Tesla sales have suffered due to competition, an ageing lineup and Musk’s political stance in Europe.

    Good.

The ‘salute’ would’ve ended any other business leader in modern history.

2026 should focus on right wing fascists more.

“… amid fierce competition for the Gerald Ratner Bellend Businessman of the Year Award”

    # Tesla sales in Britain fall for second year amid fierce **dislike of the fascist owner**.

Funny that I see more on the roads in Scotland as a percentage of cars than ever

Britain be careful, Trump might slam sanctions on Britain if Tesla sales continue to fall because according to him this is a terrorist act.

Competition and the fact that the primary shareholder and owner is a nazi.
Oh and the cars are expensive and not that good.

Got rid of my M3 for this exact reason. Still see some brigaders on r/teslauk saying Elon’s salute wasn’t a nazi salute, until you ask them to send a photo of themselves doing the same things to their boss.

Crazy how many people are still fine buying products associated with Musk

When more companies enter the market then the market share diversifies, it’s simple economics.

While Elon is a grade A bell end, outside of online echo chambers people don’t really give a fuck.

I also like how they choose a picture of a car that you can’t even buy in the UK.

I will be getting an EV soon, and Teslas kind of look cool and seem decent, but I genuinely will not buy it while a white supremacist who funds extremism is in charge. And that’s not a difficult choice with increasing competition. I know many people who think like me.

I don’t think it’s the competition, it’s the musk factor. Musk is a bellend at best, and an existential threat to democracy at worst. The cars are actually pretty good these days but Musk makes a tesla a hard sell.

You don’t want to be halfway down the reliability stats

The level of cope on Reddit is amazing. If Tesla sales are down but cheaper Chinese alternatives are up, then the only logical explanation is that… checks notes… buyers feel so strongly ideologically that they opt for China.

  15. Nothing to do with competition, you couldn’t pay me to drive a nazimobile.

Despite what some people seem to think, the reason is right there in the headline. We’ve been flooded with cheap, Chinese electric cars.

It does make me laugh how some will sneer at the thought of Temu or AliExpress, or even Chinese goods on Amazon. A cheap car though? Too good to resist apparently! Even if you do connect your phone and hand over whatever data the car collects!

I feel like they have a unique reputation in the uk thanks to how our company car tax works. To me they are only owned by balding men named Ian that work in a sales position for a company selling IT solutions B2B.

“amid fierce competition” yeah i think there are other reasons
