Honestly compared to some other countries €1.85 is reasonable. In Denmark it’s now 29DKK around €3.90. Pretty sure the main reason it’s so much lower here is that our government bodies largely haven’t moved off snailmail yet, once they do the letter volumes will plummet and then we’ll see prices closer to 5 euro for a stamp.

  2. We stopped sending Christmas cards to 90% of our family and friends, due to the postage cost, we just hand them over when we see them. I guess now it will be 100%

I’d love to know how much they charge Amazon to deliver a small package.

I’d also love to know how much of the price of a stamp is going towards pensions of former staff.

In most countries I would think privaitisation would be the way to go to cut costs for consumers, but we all know where that goes here.

  4. But wait, i thought they were so busy and short started that they had to may things to deliver and post offices were stamped. Wasn’t that a story last week?

This sounds just like the current excuse for the annual price rise.

The belief that public services should be run for profit in Ireland really gets to me.

    People sent less letters
    An Post raise stamp prices
People see it is more expensive to send letters and send further less letters

An Post is €5.6 million IN PROFIT

An Post just wants more profits while killing letter sending at the same time.

This is exactly what the landlords are doing.
