India is tomorrow’s #1 superpower, so not a stupid move. Also keep BRICS close, especially with the orange orang utan in his white castle.

India and EU partnership is a natural partnership and a force of stability in the current geopolitical flux .
It provides both sides flexibility and space from the current hegemonic behaviour of US . The more India would be engaged in trade the more influence EU would have in India.
India would also get an option in defence partnership with EU to end it’s reliance on Russian equipments providing a good option against US bullying to purchase it’s defence products .
It’s a win win for both .
Perhaps Merz was also mocking Trump and simply threw out two weeks as a suggestion.
Those who criticizing only India will be gaining from these deal.
India always use defense purchases as way to gain Geopolitical goal (really stupid strategy).
40 Billion worth rafaele jets + 8 Billion worth German submarines + 2.6 B Spain transport aircrafts + many more.
500 airbus passenger jets on orders.
Alstom,seimens etc are getting lots of metro and rail orders.
India is in the most isolated state now as Russia (declining power ) , US (turbo bully to India ) are slowly moving away from India’s partnership. EU can gain a lot economically from this deal. Even if this won’t get it done . EU cheap stuffs will still come from China, Vietnam, banlgadesh who can’t(won’t) buy the stuffs you want to sell.
India tried this with us (UK).
It fell apart in the end because India demanded what was in effect unlimited migration/right to work for its Tech workers.
It makes no sense to surpress EU/UK workers to import them from elsewhere.
One day soon we will be left with too few skilled workers. And a Europe of no opptunity for our youth.
