So the U.S. is criticising the UK for not outlawing something that is legal in many U.S. states.
At the same time the U.S. president has declared himself the acting president of another country, after removing it’s president through military action, is threatening to seize another country and has federal agents shooting innocent civilians and doing door to door raids to punish a community that is pushing back against illegal actions.

“Civilisational concern” is an interesting take might want to check out the Spanish Hapsburgs for how concerning it actually is. [Charles II of Spain – Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_II_of_Spain)

You know who constantly criticises other people? Insecure people.
And why do we even care what the US says?
Just to clarify – not married to my cousin.

Its not healthy to have children with your cousin. That’s a factual statement. Calling it a civilisation concern is rather hyperbolic. It’s like having children when you know you are carrying a gene that predisposes your child to some shitty disease or illness. It’s a selfish thing to do and I don’t think people should do it, but making that a crime seem a step too far.

And sending ICE agents to terrorise and even kill innocent people isn’t?

They are right, it is weird and sinister and it should be outlawed. There’s millions of other adults here to marry who don’t share the same grandparents. The only reasons people do it is pressure/force from family or they’re abnormal

They are trying to weasel their way around it by pointing out that the first generation of such breeding only slightly increases the chance of such defects in the child.
What they are ommiting is that these type of arrangements happen within the family for generation after generation, until you end up with a Habsburgs situation, but at a national scale.
Even without all this the ethical side of it is icky as fock too. Doesn’t seem very progressive to me for a government that wear the cloak of progressivism to look the other way at backwards behaviour simply because it is being conducted by a minority group.

A lot of the comments here are on the US response with some reasonable comments.
That said, I think the bigger story for us is that Keir Starmer continues to decline a parliamentary vote on banning cousin marriage. A cultural practice that, in all honesty, should have no place in a civilised society.
Cousin births can contribute to serious health issues in children, but the economic burden remains unknown. This is because the NHS does not record relevant data.
I do think this issue needs to be debated in parliament.
Starmer should not hide away from this just because he doesn’t want to upset one communities sensitivities.

I just couldn’t care less what some Undersecretary of State says in an attempt to change the narrative from “why is US Big Tech fine with making child porn”?

Apart from all the poor disabled people born to the copulating cousins, it costs the tax payer an absolute fortune with all their needs for NHS, education, and a lifetime of welfare and disability payments.

I mean, it carries an increased risk of genetic abnormalities and problems but it is hardly a civilisational threat. As far as I’m aware, no major civilisations have collapsed because everyone became too inbred from cousin fucking, and people have been fucking their cousins basically forever. Destroying NATO and risking nuclear war over fucking Greenland, *that* would be a civilisational threat.

Personally i feel cousin marriage should end or be highly discouraged , but that’s our decision, not insane disney worlds concern
