I’m mid 30s, fully expect retirement age to be 70 before I get to it. I’ve been aware of this for several years. It’s not nice, but it makes sense. Aging population and we’re living longer.

Yeah for sure the other 4 need to read the room and see where things are going, 70 if lucky

The other 4 will be working until they’re dead.

No idea how I’ll retire tbh… One of those I’ll cross that bridge when and if I get to it type things.
My mam didn’t make it to 70 which kinda changed my perspective on a lot of timelines tbh.

Aside from the “economic contributor” aspect, which is gross, I really just think it’s nuts that many people go from a 40 hour week to a 0 hour week at age 65/66/67, with probably 20 years still to live.
I personally haven’t seen much on what sort of work might be reasonable and meaningful for older adults to do – whether its because they want to supplement their income part time, or whether it’s because they still want to feel involved in the world.
The current expectation seems to just be “status quo, but for a few years longer”.

People will retire to cheaper countries. My plan is to retire in Bulgaria

Any of the other 4 who are under 50 are deluded.
