I just knew the man who named it New Munster had to be from any Munster county except Cork. There’s no way if he was from Cork he wouldn’t have named it New Cork.

IIRC the North Island was called new Ulster as well.

Copycats. But then again, there’s a Münster in Germany that is very likely older than our Munster

heard years ago if we drilled a hole through (a part) of Ireland straight through the earth it would come out on the south Island in NZ. Not sure how true that it is but I ran with it either way
