    >Department officials told the Minister that as of November, “deportations from the USA account for 60 per cent of all deportations cases recorded thus far in 2025″.

    >The documents do not set out total numbers of Irish people deported from countries overseas.

How in God’s name could they give a percentage without a nominal figure?! It’s *ludicrous*. I wonder if the number of deportations is even in the triple figures.

Only 60% of cases are from the USA. I assumed that would be a lot higher.  Doesn’t say what makes up the rest. Bad reporting.

Those two women deported from Germany caused the figures to skyrocket heh

Could we deport Helen before she gets her next ministerial position?
Baffles me how these people manage to fall upwards all the time.

Irish illegal immigrants…the far far right here would say expats… fucking eejits

  6. I know of a few people who have been deported from USA and Australia over the years.
It’s also possible that the rise in deportations is also linked to the rise in new citizens. For example maybe a few Irish/Iranians have been deported recently. Maybe a few from Israel.
So perhaps people who are originally from other countries and maybe take part in protests in their home countries and then when they get in trouble they whip out the aul Irish passport.

*Between January and September 2025, 99 Irish people were deported, according to statistics from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unit.*

*This compares to 60 deportations between October 2023 and September 2024.*

BBC in November ’25. You can extrapolate back from that.

If it’s around 99 from the US and that’s 60% of the total, your looking at about 165 people in total.

272% up but fails to show figures. Could be 25 up to 70 which is an insignificant number.

Headline at best and 60% of the total is from the US

Thr mass migration issue means that this will increase. Do the paperwork which can be hard in the USA but needs doing. Otherwise..

There’s a surge in people being deported everywhere and there are lots of Irish people living illegally abroad… so yeah, this is going to happen.

If your in a country and your not there legally, then of course you should be deported. It’s common fucking sense. Both in other countries and Ireland. Common sense logic should be fucking used in today’s over sensitive society.

If they’re overstaying their visas or breaking the requirements of them then I’m all for it 🤷‍♀️

I know it’s hard to renew visas sometimes but you’re a guest in that country. If they don’t want you you need to leave.

They should be deported if they are breaking the law or are there illegally. Boggles the mind we aren’t doing the same here.

If you are there illegally you deserve to be deported simple as.
