Great news! One I’m sure the government will be shouting about..

Genuinely incredible, I can’t stress enough how much I fucking love Labours huge infrastructure kick.

    >Record 8.4GW of offshore wind secured in Europe’s biggest ever offshore wind auction- enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of over 12 million homes.

    >As Britain races to cut bills and meet growing energy demand, price for offshore wind agreed at 40% lower than the cost of building and operating a new gas power plant.

Thank god, something we can all get behind, accept the tories.

  4. Excellent & the way to go. Need to build storage & delivery backbone also. More batteries in homes & cars can store energy & provide resilience.

That strike price is pretty unfortunate.

    £65 in 2012 prices up from £58 in AR7.

That’s also with Ed lengthening the contract from 15 to 20 years. So worse than it looks.

I think it’s great that we’re decarbonising but this probably won’t help energy bills.

This is great news. I wonder what UK’s total renewables energy production will be when the new farms go live. It says 12 million homes, but we already have a good level of wind farms producing power.

Hopefully red tape doesn’t get in the way, and the costs don’t spiral.

Crazy that there are still parties opposed to the UK developing it’s own independent energy sources.

Granted these parties mainly seem motivated by donations from the fossil fuels lobby or are working on behalf of hostile states who want to weaken the UK.
