L’Occidente unito è morto. I leader europei dovrebbero prestare attenzione ai loro elettori e garantire che il blocco rimanga un polo all’interno della propria sfera di influenza – e non uno spettatore in quella di qualcun altro.

Who would have imagined ten years ago that a mentally unstable trash‑TV entertainer and scam artist posing as a businessman would turn out to be Russia’s most effective asset.
As a Canadian, I would gravitate towards a European sphere. I feel more aligned with European values than American values. So yes, please Europe, take the torch from a broken lady liberty and be the beacon of democracy.
The truth is that the era of small countries being protected by larger ones is over. Europe is either united and at the table or we are on the menu.
A while already I’m correcting people arguing about “the West”: Do not mix U.S with EU. After that if I had to define where the U.S is going to: Capitalistic, inequalitarian, consumerism based alienation of their own people: An illusion of freedom. Not sure if it will end up better than China, it’s just another extreme.
I’m a Natoskeptic. Do we really need the Americans to defend 600 million Europeans from 150 million Russians? It’s absurd.
Europe is twice the size of the US in terms of population. Speed up the ever-closer Union; Federalize.
I think such headlines are unnecessarily alarmist. The EU and the US aren’t going anywhere without each other. Trump is an outlier, not the norm—he’ll be gone in three years. The transatlantic alliance is built to last for centuries, so it’s wiser to weather this short-term turbulence than to act impulsively. That would only reveal a lack of strategic foresight.
