1. Make it illegal for governments to purchase software from US headquartered companies.
2. Put in a punitive tax on digital advertising on US headquartered platforms (this won’t actually raise the cost of advertising because advertising on social media networks has no supply elasticity – so it is literally just taking money from the most valuable US companies)
3. Remove recognition of US company patents and licenses, so every US drug company loses its ability to make money, and it is legal to start a platform like with all of Netflix, Warner and Disney plus content on it free.
4. Place extra taxes on holding of USD denominated financial assets, pushing up US borrowing costs, and capital formation in the US.
Anybody not suggesting the above is just not willing to actually meet fire with fire. The EU is good at producing goods. The US is an incredibly service based economy, so you have to hit them where they actually are.

> # Macron to Seek Use of EU Anti-Coercion Instrument Against US
>
> *By Ania Nussbaum*
>
> French President Emmanuel Macron will request the activation of the European Union’s anti-coercion instrument after US President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on European countries over Greenland.
>
> Macron, who on Saturday branded the threat of tariffs “unacceptable,” was in contact with European counterparts and would make the request on behalf of France, according to a person close to the president who requested anonymity to comply with government rules.
>
> Trump announced a 10% tariff on goods from eight European countries including France beginning Feb. 1. He threatened in a social media post to raise the levy to 25% in June unless and until “a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland.”
>
> EU national ambassadors will meet Sunday to discuss the bloc’s next steps, according to a person familiar with the matter.
>
> The EU’s anti-coercion instrument is the bloc’s most powerful retaliatory tool. While it has never been used, the ACI was designed primarily as a deterrent, and if needed, to respond to deliberate coercive actions from third countries that use trade measures as a means to pressure the policy choices of the EU or its members.
>
> Those measures could include tariffs, new taxes on tech companies or targeted curbs on investments in the EU. They could also involve limiting access to certain parts of the EU market or restricting firms from bidding for public contracts in Europe.
>
> According to the person familiar with Macron’s thinking, Trump’s plan to impose tariffs over Greenland calls into the question the validity of the trade deal sealed last year between the EU and the US. That deal has already been partially implemented but still needs a nod from parliament, which is now likely to halt approval.

As far as I know, activating the ACI requires a qualified majority vote in the Council of the European Union, meaning that at least 15 member states (out of 27) representing at least 65 percent of the EU population must vote in favor. It won’t be easy to persuade pro-Atlantic countries such as Germany and Italy.
In particular, as an Italian, I can guarantee that our Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, a tail-wagging lapdog at Trump’s feet, will not lift a finger to upset her master.

Best solution is to hit the Americans hard in their wallet by imposing harsh economic and financial measures. Get all EU gold reserves back to Europe. Than start selling all US treasuries. Abandon the USD for international trade. No more visa’s for Americans. Ban US tech companies from access to the European market. Ban all countries who trade with USA from using EUV machines to make chips.

**I’m genuinely confused by all this European outrage. Aren’t we just applying** ***their*** **principles here?**
Greenland is clearly the Promised Land of the Americans—the true indigenous people of the Arctic. This was established in the ancient scrolls roughly 3,000 gazillion years ago. Anyone denying this historical fact is simply being anti-Semitic… sorry, anti-American. I stand with Donald Turzel as he reclaims his ancestral ice sheets.
Let’s be real: there’s no such thing as a ‘Greenlander.’ These are just northern wanderers—nomadic Arctic drifters with no real claim to permanence. They’ve occupied this land for maybe a few thousand years, but American Manifest Destiny is *eternal*. This is clearly an invented identity being weaponized to obstruct our legitimate security concerns.
And frankly, Greenland is a land without a people—90% uninhabitable ice and wasted strategic potential. The current occupiers can’t defend it, can’t develop it, can’t utilize its resources. Under the Turzel Administration, we’ll finally make the tundra bloom. We’ll build the Golden Dome, extract those rare earth minerals, establish proper civilization.
**So why the double standard, Europe?** When it’s making deserts bloom elsewhere, you cheer. When it’s ‘reclaiming ancestral homelands’ based on ancient texts, you nod along. When it’s declaring existential security threats that justify territorial acquisition, you write the checks.
But suddenly when *we* apply the exact same logic to frozen real estate in the Arctic, it’s ‘imperialism’? It’s a ‘threat to NATO’?
Please. Spare me the selective moralism. Either these principles are universal, or they were never principles at all—just convenient excuses you’ve been bankrolling for decades. You don’t get to clutch your pearls now that the bill’s come due in your own backyard.

Just put a digital tax of 25%.
Every Microsoft product / software license sold = 25% payment to the EU. 25% tax on advertisement through meta and other social media. This would be huge, and lead to people using Linux / open source instead, because the price for American tech would be way to high. And likely lead to some European social media alternative, so we can finaly get rid of meta and instagram.
