Durante una conversazione registrata, il presidente francese Emmanuel Macron si è prima scusato con Trump per averlo chiamato la mattina presto per dargli la notizia che "Zelenskyj aveva accettato la sua proposta di cessate il fuoco di 30 giorni."
La reazione del leader americano è stata spontanea ed entusiasta, "Ohhhh, fantastico! Premio Nobel. Sei il più grande."
Alla conversazione erano presenti anche il primo ministro britannico Sir Keir Starmer, il cancelliere tedesco Friedrich Merz e il presidente del Consiglio europeo Donald Tusk.
Allo stesso tempo, Zelenskyj ha chiesto a Trump di imporre sanzioni alla Russia se Vladimir Putin rifiuterà il cessate il fuoco, richiesta che ha ricevuto il sostegno positivo del presidente degli Stati Uniti.

Jeesus… He’s just a sick old man with delusions of grandeur. That’s his only instinct besides bottomless greed of course. That’s the only reason why he wants Greenland as well. I don’t like Trump’s s methods but I do feel that the possibilities of peace have moved closer.
Ukraine will ultimately needs to make consessions, anyone that thinks Ukraine is getting all of its land back, reparations, and war crime trials is dreaming. Even if Putin is dead tomorrow, the replacement is not going to make themselves a bad deal.
