  1. Yes, it is real. Prices of products are high too but the truth is people just have money. Restaurants, malls, spa hotels everything is busting.

Сигурно това е в краен случай, където на теория може да стане, на практика съмнително.

1300 евра бруто је плата, што изађе око 1100 евра нето. Додуше, та плата ако си у Софији и није нешто.

It’s not a scam, but that’s gross salary. Net is rougly 1990BGN, or €1016.50 from base 2500BGN salary.

Yes, it’s real, but this is before taxes. After taxes it’s 1387 euro + 100 euro food vouchers.
The economy is just nuts right now. A lot of low skill jobs are getting this type of salaries(delivery men, waitresses etc.) While a lot of higher education jobs still lag behind and don’t see such increases.

It’s absolutely real. The average wage in Sofia is currently 1790€ gross. (3500 лв.)

I’m a doctor, and you don’t want to hear the salaries of most of my colleagues. Things aren’t perfect, but definitely not what you probably imagined of Bulgaria being like. We’re not really poor as the memes and stereotypes imply.

Also gray sector is massive here, so someone may be making 1000€ on papers, but then get another 1-2000€ undeclared (under the table). People also have multiple contracts at their jobs, own and rent or sell properties, have their own business etc…
People, especially in Sofia and other big cities in Bulgaria are far from poor, as many other European countries think of Bulgaria, because of the stereotypes/memes and us being in the bottom of some charts. The reality is kind of different.
Keep in mind we are a very pessimistic and negative people, it’s like in our DNA. People would be making 4000€ and still complain that they’re poor over here. It’s just how we are, sadly.

Don’t worry, the cashiers earn more than the young doctors here as well.

Keep in mind that is full time pay before the taxes . Realistically you get around 1100Euro for this position.

And then they rarely hire people full time , and instead hire people for 6 month test period on 6h work day so they make around 850Euro a month at best including the food coupons .

The salary depends based on location. At the town next to my grandparents’ place they offer 970 euro gross + up to 100 euro in food vouchers. That being said, from what I’ve been told you apply for a cashier but you are expected to do everything from baking the bread to mopping the floors, arranging products etc.

Tldr money’s good but they work u dry

Read the fine print. It’s real, after the 5th year and that gross salary.

As high as they are, Bulgarians still won’t be happy and keep feeding their inferiority complex to the west

I’ve seen that, and somehow they always search for employees 😀 suspicious

This is before taxes. Our wages are the lowest in the EU and Europe as a whole.

  14. Vast_Programmer1383 on

    Yes Sofia has high salaries.
Even compared to western big cities.
In Milano they pay around 1000-1200€ to work in Lidl(Net)
In Bulgaria taxes are very low so you can afford to pay much more with less cost. we are one of the country with least tax in Europe right now

why do serbs still think they’re doing better than us and Romanians lol im genuienly baffled

  16. Not to worry, my man. A doctor’s salary here is about 850-900 euro. It’s much higher in private hospitals, though.

You’ve just walked into the reason why doctors in Bulgaria are not trusted. They don’t make enough money, and so everyone believes they are more sales rep for pharma, than doctors.

And, no – it is NOT a scam. It’s just stupidity in Bulgaria.
