Most people who are pro EU, pro Ukraine and anti corruption (that means for instance most Bulgarian redditors you’ll see) have very little confidence in Radev, mildly said. He has actually condemned Russia’s aggression, but only did it once as far as I remember and at some international setting that pretty much never reached nationwide coverage here. Otherwise he has called supporters of Ukraine ‘war-loving’, has implied Crimea belongs to Russia due to its factual control of it and has been preaching for peace independently of how just that peace would be.
There may be something of a silver lining and that is that he has always shown himself to be against the main factors of corruption inside the country. So there is some hope that together with the pro-EU crowd it may be possible to oust the corruptioneers and start some sort of legal reform which is badly needed. Problem is he is far from the first agent who has appeared capable of doing these, and all of the ones before him have failed and betrayed the effort massively.

So the official Russian Agent No 1 in Bulgaria has now entered the elections race. Had he waited for the end of his 2nd term he would’ve missed his best opportunity for a good result.
I wish I was certain that the voters can see through his lies but sadly I am certain that quite enough of them will not. The real question is which parties’ voters is he going to attract and is his participation going to result in an increased voting participation.
