And the ‘event’ will simply cause the scheduled disconnection of some data centres from the grid, prioritising domestic consumers.
It’s a planned set of steps, starting with the identification of an upcoming production gap, announcement to large energy users on a list, and them switching to internal power.
No drama, no outages.
If only we lived close to the sea or an ocean so we could become energy independent by building offshore wind turbines
This same nonsense again. If ESB want more handouts to boost their profits, just say so. Don’t keep spouting this stuff year after year.
They clear up to a billion in profit a year. Use it to fix the problem maybe.
About 25 years ago a group called ‘ spirit of ireland’ was trying to set up hydroelectric in some of our fjords/fords. I recall a Tom Scott video that uses excess electricity to pump water uphill in uk and use the downhill flow to generate electricity in peak times. I would love to see cool things like that happening.
Well, you can fix “insert issue here” over night……/s
I always feel these news items are designed to prepare us to have to fork out more money.
Security threat ……..spend more money on defence
Environmental threat………more carbon taxes
Energy threat………..higher energy costs
Pandemic………….spend more money on healthcare (not always a bad thing once it’s the **right** healthcare and not millions on PPE or equipment that doesn’t work).
Plenty of time for the government to prepare so, right, right 😅
Energy crisis will soon be lime the housing crisis. Everyone could see it coming but the the politicians behave like passengers rather than the people driving the bus.
