Oof, that stings because it’s not wrong Europe talks unity well, but hard decisions always seem to hit pause.

Zelensky himself pointed out in his speech that the EU leaders, instead of building themselves up, sought to appease the US president for further instructions. Clearly he’s angry at them this time.

He’s right. We give Ukraine enough to survive but after almost 4 years we still don’t have a plan or the political will to actually bring them into a stronger position.

Zelensky isn’t completely right here. I’m with Ukraine with all my heart and I always will be, but in this speech Zelensky chose the wrong side as the target of his criticism.

Europe does not deserve this kind of rhetorical attacks just because it doesn’t act provocatively, keeps its sanity, and speaks in a calm, measured way.
If we’re going to be honest and tell everyone the truth to their face, then let’s do the same with Trump.
Because right now, Europe — which is holding Ukraine’s rear — gets criticized, almost without a single word of gratitude.
While Trump, the traitor who cut all aid to zero, who praises putin every week and insults Ukraine, is being regularly showered with gratitude instead.

  5. He’s not going to get anything he wants from the US but he will piss a lot of europeans that just delivered him $90B on a silver platter. Another Zalensky’s foreign policy L

    >US security guarantees

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  7. I have to hard disagree with Zelenskyy for pretty much the first time in the past 4 years. EU is building themselves up, and is pretty much the only one that is keeping Ukraine in the game (with Japan, Australia, Canada, and a few others) and not the USA. So, for the first time, I really have to question what the hell he is on about. This criticism is in stark contrast to the one he should actually criticize.

US offered Ukraine a 25 year security guarantee.

What security guarantee has the EU offered?

  9. Madatefute on

He said that to please trump. With eu leaders you can talk, with trump, is impossible.

  10. Dotcaprachiappa on

Are we talking about the same US? The US that stopped any and all military and financial support to Ukraine?

  11. EatThemAllOrNot on

Lol, it’s easy to criticize others while he himself is primarily focused on corruption

The goal was never for Ukraine to win.

Ukraine’s leadership was naive to the plan. The US and EU used them to accelerate the demise of Russia without expending our own blood. Their comedian presidente just didn’t understand the game and got played.

The West really doesn’t care what happens in Ukraine, our goal has been accomplished. A weakened and isolated Russia.

  13. insomnimax_99 on

    He’s not wrong.

The response of Europe to Russia and Putin has been embarrassing.

Ukraine is our own backyard, we should be calling the shots as to what happens there, backed by force if necessary. The second the first Russian soldier stepped foot in Crimea we should have been working with the Ukrainians to set up a no fly zone. But we’ve just let Putin walk all over us, and let the Americans take charge with the response. It’s an embarrassment.

Lmao he’s blasting Europe and European countries, which right now are the only one who’re still giving Ukraine weapons, while still sucking up to Trump who now is openly pro Russia and pro Putin and he’s not giving Ukraine any weapons anyway.

  15. Trump’s guarantees aren’t worth the paper they are written on.

  16. Did anyone actually listen to the speech and read the article or did you just stop at ‘blasts the EU’ and got hurt in your precious not-getting-bombed-on fee fees?

OP in a comment says, very clearly for who cannot be bothered:

“Zelensky himself pointed out in his speech that the EU leaders, instead of building themselves up, sought to appease the US president for further instructions.”

    This is very fucking deserved.

  17. morbihann on

Yeah, well do you want them or us as your allies ? I don’t remember EU asking for its “aid” back, unlike the US.

  18. AnCoAdams on

I believe this is a clever choice of words. I think these words are for trump, and the maga bunch, to try and position them to look more favourable to the US.

However, his words are also barbed with truth. Many European counties (Spain, Ireland to name a couple) are totally unserious about defence.

  19. kewthewer on

Yeah we should sent troops to Greenland instead of protecting our own border.

  20. TheMyzzler on

If he believes he’ll get security guarantees from the US he’s an even bigger idiot than I thought. Typical crooked Eastern-European mobster.

  21. Dracogame on

Oh he’s good… He’s talking to Trump here, not to Europe

  22. Frosty-Comfort6699 on

i don’t know man but it feels like he is making a mistake there

  23. Ukraine is stretched thin, dude is gonna say whatever he thinks might help get Ukraine some money for the war effort. Long term perspectives don’t look so great, he knows that Europe won’t be so eager to send aid later when they have the USA breathing down their necks. Better try to have the EU commit more now than be left alone later, even if it looks ungrateful

  24. AssumptionBudget279 on

I agree and disagree with him.
Agree because yes Europe is too slow to act
Disagree because recently I do think Europe is showing more of a backbone in the face of Trump.

  25. Droid0008 on

I know he says it to please Trump, but criticizing the only ally you really have left is a bad decision. Pro-Russian political partys have only gotten stronger over the last few years and this will only strengthen anti-ukrainian sentiment in Europe. Especially with the last few corruption scandals, not really helping the situation at all.

look, the rest of the world doesn’t owe ukraine anything. this guy needs to stfu and be grateful. jesus
