Soft power with hard borders turns out maritime law matters when everyone finally enforces it together. Baltic isn’t the Wild West anymore.
I think it’s definitely two years too late.
given our reaction time, we’re lucky that the orks aren’t that agile themselves
> We, the Coastal States of the Baltic Sea and the North Sea (Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom) **with Iceland**,
“We and our one bro who also hates you”
Russia hasn’t the greatest time in the NATO lake. They will soon start throwing tantrums about blockade and threatening with nukes. As they always do.
Finally.
Cool. Now how about the EU also stops buying their gas?
Interesting move by European countries. This could change the balance in the Baltic region.
This is great, good job Europe.
Okay great, but we’re going to enforce this with our navies right?
It’s a belated but necessary decision. If necessary, their military presence should be prevented outside the territorial waters of St. Petersburg.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Trump’s tanker blockade has provided the diplomatic cover to finally make this work. NATO in action!
>14 countries have issued a joint statement warning Russia that its shadow fleet tankers will no longer be able to operate freely in the Baltic Sea.
Eh? They literally just state what international law is. There’s nothing in the declaration that suggests anything other than the status quo.
As much as Donald Trump is an absolutely terrible president, Europe would not have started doing this if he hadn’t captured one of these ships without a response first.
This is tremendously good news!
Did I miss the nuke threat from Russia?
Europe has to stop begging for scraps from Washington and start acting like a real power. Time to arm, unite, and stop being the junior partner in a partnership that’s already dead.
All talk. Lets see them enforce it before I’ll believe it.
Russia is probably going to re-re-restate its nuclear threat again, forgetting that France and the UK also have lots of nukes.
