God these newspapers know how to get people riled up for clicksÂ
Personally though I was pinned down to the ground buying a flat white this morning, the barista screamed and tried to force my hand to hit the 15% tip button, I just about managed to get off the 0% button and got the hell out of there

It should be fucking outlawed honestly. Sitting idly by while more and more of the responsibility for making hospitality a viable job gets shifted onto the consumer.
I understand you can just not tip, but it is a deliberate guilt trip everywhere you go.

I don’t tip, I pay all service fees, all technology fees, all delivery fees, and more.
I am not going to tip because that’s employer’s responsibility.

I always leave tips, but I 100% agree that’s becoming less voluntary. Been to a couple of restaurants recently where service was already added to the bill.

Tip or don’t tip. No one is forcing you either way.

I’m in IT, nobody ever tips me when I go above and beyond, don’t see why I should tip someone for doing their job. We’re not in America.

Tip when you want, don’t when you don’t. Problem solved.
Tipping has always been normal in restaurants. Always. In other service industries it’s occasional and not expected.
Why people get so wound up about this is beyond me. Grow a pair, tap the “no tip” button and get on with your day.

Its a joke.
My Ma did a charity walk and when I donated on the fucking website it asked me for a tip. Nearly cancelled the whole donation in frustration.

Less voluntary? Are they locking the door until you tip or something?
Just say “No thanks!”

Well let’s be real here for a second. It’s already expensive enough going out to eat in this economy for the majority of people. A lot more people would tip if they got rid of the insane VAT. I paid €7 on top of a meal (would just cost €50 without) for a single person alone because of VAT.

I don’t tip, Im not going to incentivize employers paying employees less than bare minimum because the customer is going to make up for it
It’s not Irish, and it’s not something that should be encouraged in our culture
