      This invitation is just a mockery of diplomacy. It is not an issue to pick not even a neutral country, but a Russian ally like China. Or something in Central Asia like Kazakhstan.

      They just don’t want to talk.

      In a normal world these kinds of suggestions would already cause the negotiations to be put on ice.

      Moscow clearly doesnt care about a settlement at all.

      BS aside, they could meet in Switzerland or some other neutral ground, but Russia is not in a talking mood. In a year or so however they will have to make a choice…

      Either make peace or see their country collapse.

      Would Putin do the same thing in his place? Hell now, the second Zelenskyy sets foot in Russia, he’s getting kidnapped or killed, assuming they didn’t just shoot down his plane. Inviting the leader of the country you invaded, and have tried to kill one numerous occasions, to your capital, no sane person would accept that “offer”…

      I remember that was a tactic the Soviets used to invite the enemy for peace talks, and then kill them….. Zelinsky is smart enough to know never trust a Russian, especially an ex-KGB agent.
