Calling Seguro a “left-wing candidate” is a massive stretch.
He’s a run of the mill center-left politician, and ideologically he’s 90% center and 10% left. He could’ve easily ended up in PSD and wouldn’t look out of place at all, so it’s not a big ideological sacrifice at all for the moderate section of PSD to support him. The issue is that the radical section of the party has taken power (including the Prime-Minister), and for them publicly supporting someone who is very slightly associated to the left is unthinkable

I wish other countries conservatives were this pragmatic

Based AF. I wish other countries right wingers would have this enough common sense .

Seems like it’s more individual members rather than the official PSD stance, I was impressed for a second there

Shame Poland conservatives don’t see it that way 🙁

Rare Europe dub.

Am I imagining things? Conservatives supporting leftists instead of going with fascists to appease the capitalist overlords? No, I must be dreaming.

We pulled a similar move in 🇦🇹 and while I’m glad we did, no one should be under the illusion that this works well in any way

Interesting. Trump must have an influence in this.

Admirable pragmatism
This would never happen in Spain
