“‘Tutti erano uguali’, dice malinconicamente alla nipote la babushka con il fazzoletto di Eli dalla Russia – una YouTuber che documenta la vita quotidiana e la cultura regionale in tutta la Federazione Russa, ricordando la vita nell’Unione Sovietica”, scrive Melanie Gottdenger, storica culturale addestrata nello studio della cultura popolare tardo-sovietica e post-sovietica, in questo editoriale.

Russia is throttling access to YouTube. And anyone with 10,000+ followers must submit their information about themselves to the Russian telecom regulator, Roskomnadzor. So this lady may be trying to sell us her propaganda of happy Russia but I am not buying it.

Fuck all the russian bloggers, vloggers and youtubers.
Fuck ppl who travel there like baldandbankrupt.
    Fuck all who promote russia.

Do not open that shit, do not engage in their shit, use only for scientific purposes or to understand the enemy better. Fuck that mongolian civilization, let the rot alone there in this wonderful no-one’s land which separates us here and the Japan there.

If you want brain rot, check out r/ussr

You’d think the tankies there are being ironic but no – westerners living in comfort simping for a Totalitarian regime, celebrating/denying genocide, claiming eastern Europe was better off as a vassal. It’s sickening.

All this pro-ruspidr garbage on YT, Reddit etc. has become noticeably more prevalent since the trump regime was reinstalled last year, especially outside Europe. It’s an attempt to rehabilitate the image and lift the cultural sanction. Unfortunately, it’s working. The cyber war grinds on with the rest of it.

To understand Russia it is necessary to understand Moscow. Specifically: a far northern region with a short growing season and limited carrying capacity hosting a population of 20M people. Those people survive only by extracting wealth from surrounding lands. The road system of Russia is evidence of this. The Russian state exists to feed Moscow. St. Petersberg is nice–a port on the Baltic, but if it didn’t exist, nothing much would change.

Ukraine represents the most prosperous region outside of Moscow. Culturally the most European of regions under former Tsarist and Soviet control. Educated, and able to feed itself and to export food in any number of directions. A free and independent and prosperous and secure Ukraine threaten the entire Moscow project. So the sooner Ukraine is free the better, because Moscow is an aberration and insult to the human condition.
