Backbench Labour MPs continue to be the ones with some backbone.
Surely he has to go now. This is jaw dropping stuff.
This is fucking outrageous. That the government had to be forced to do so by backbencher pressure and the Speaker disagreeing with their judgement is such a bad look for Starmer.
If Starmer doesn’t resign we might actually see the first -100 approval rating- crazy stuff.
Police have made a statement saying releasing the documents would pejudice an ongoing investigation.

I get why that may be legally justified in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, but it still feels awfully convenient for the government.
If he thinks he’s got **any** authority now, I want some of what he’s sniffing.
That fact that it took the Labour backbench to even get them to agree to releasing all their documents to a parliamentary commission . . . it’s not a good fucking look.
No wonder he didn’t want Burnham to stand as an MP – and honestly, I half think that Burnham should stand as an independent.
And the Met have also thrown a spanner in the works by asking the government not to publish certain things because it would prejudice their criminal investigation. Legally they can’t stop them, because of Parliamentary Privilege, but it still puts the government in a bad position of they want a prosecution.
Wasn’t it incase of backbencher rebellion not after backbencher rebellion?
Two articles to definite realities
Surely it’s good foresight to do this after security implications were discovered and more to fire who has been providing or not providing intelligence in the case?
Thank god Labour stopped Andy Burnham from becoming an MP, we wouldn’t want anyone challenging this incredible leadership. Labour was climbing back to the low 20’s in the polls so naturally Starmer needed to goof the floof again and drop it back down.
Hold up… He tried NOT to release the files?!? What the actual fuck! I’ve always felt he was “off” but c’mon. Ridiculous!
I mean isn’t this just the position the gov said it was going to take other the IPC will also look at the documents and confirm that some can’t be released due to security reasons?
