I’m a bit biased here being a member myself but checking the stats against current army strength, it’s around 0.5% of the organisation.
Apart from people being innocent until proven guilty, what more can be done if anyone serious is removed? The DF can’t stop individuals committing crimes and it is a very low percentage.

Only 57 from a population of what wikipedia tells me is about 7500 seems like a very reasonable number.

Half of which are for road traffic offences.

I wonder how many are for drug related offenses?
I knew a few lads in the DF who sold a little on the side to supplement their income.

Have they calmed down over the years? A certain nightclub on The Curragh was notorious for the fights in another century

>The breakdown of those 45 convictions shows: three public order; seven assault; three sexual offences; 27 road traffic offences; three drug offences; one unlawful possession of controlled substances and one conviction for money laundering.
Most for minor traffic offences, but there are some serious charges too.

Stats and all are great but I dont think the numbers address the issues that many have in relation our defence forces and Gardai.
If someone is charged with a violent offence, especially domestic or sexual based violence, they should be immediately suspended until the trail is finished.
If it wasn’t for the public outrage over Cathal Crotty he would have taken the suspended sentence and Defence forces would have kept hom employed. That should not happen in these instances.
