This is a good scheme that will get no traction with the public as it is overshadowed by the Mandelson scandal

The best thing, Starmer can do now is resign and call a general election. His government, is as salacious as the last one.

The only keir starmer related news most people want to hear right now is him announcing his resignation

The problem is, all the good policies are being throughly lost by talk of Mandleson and Starmer’s future. All self inflicted of course but frustrating all the same

As ever, the comms are sh!t, so it’s not clear which places specifically will get this funding.

That said, people have been recommended to contact their local authority or MP if they want to get involved in deciding Pride in Place funding/priorities for their area.

I’ve also found some surveys for specific areas gathering views on how this funding may be used, including one for [Manchester](https://www.manchester.gov.uk/news/article/9862/pride_in_place_%E2%80%93_help_shape_the_future_of_your_city) and [Scarborough](https://online1.snapsurveys.com/Interview/b7caf1db-662a-46d9-86f9-769067c1fb5a). Also found ones for Luton, Croydon and Ipswich.

For people saying this is a distraction attempt – not really. Pride in Place has been in the works for a long time.

Personally I’m furious at Starmer and think his days are numbered. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be updated on policy, especially where people can get involved locally.

He should have put it back by 2 months, it’s a good scheme that’s done good things but to use it to deflect from the Mandelson news is pathetic.

Has a definite whiff of rearranging the deckchairs about it

I wonder about the timing – attempt at good news to deflect from scandals- or just unfortunate.

Overshadowed somewhat by the Nonce in Place scheme

So you tax people, and then say “oh here’s some back and you get to decide how it’s spent”.

Though we all know it’ll some dumb opaque committees and in fact. no one will have a say at all. And we all know it’ll end up being some dodgy flower displays or other nonsense.

I can’t believe people fall for this nonsense time and time and time again.

The house is simultaneously on fire whilst also being burglarized and pillaged. The roof has caved in and the floors are full of holes. The walls are all covered in shit. Kier is sat in the corner knitting a new tea cosy..

I did wonder what ‘Pride in Place’ was when it was written on the wall behind him when he was making that apology. But what was meant to be a proper announcement obviously got sidetracked, and I also don’t think it’s a great name for something that is a good idea.

I’ve thought myself that if there was a very visible improvement in the empty town centres and run-down streets in time for the next election, it would be something obvious Labour could point to and people could see with their own eyes, rather than the ‘we’ve reduced this statistic by .75% above our target KPI’ stuff, or ‘we’ve set up an organisation, but it hasn’t done anything’.

I don’t think it’s goes far enough, though. It would really need to be far more of a priority with more funding if they want to achieve visible results in time.
