A colleague of mine bought some clay model kit. Made a dodgy looking figure.
She submitted it to the Royal Academy open thing and got it displayed.

I’ve seen worse remember that sketch artist video from a news outlet doing the rounds on YT way back
This one would actually look alright if they filled in the colour

I mean, it’s still better than the car with a doily on top that won the Turner Prize. Or that Emin lady who had a tent with the names of people she shagged written on it.

I love the ‘Cy Tombly’ jab towards the end. The pinnacle of undeserved artistic fame.

I’m sure he can put it towards paying of his student loans for the art degree he obviously got.

I did a self portrait of myself in paint in 2000 and I absolutely love it, far more than all the acrylic on canvas traditional paintings I have painted.

That would make me wonder if the winner was some drug’s kingpin who paid off the judges for a win !!

My own personal definition of art is that it should be “skillful representation”.
Ie: it should contain an element of skill, and represent something.
The representation element can be a feeling, a mood, a vibe – I love abstracts so that takes care of them. Its hard to make a good abstract.
So when a shit sketch like this, or a banana stapled to the wall, or a glass of water on a shelf gets called “art” – I find it doesn’t pass my litmus test of “skillful representation”
If that is not your idea of art, then fine.
Edit: I love being down voted for innocuous opinions.

This article is extremely cringe and shallow. This wasn’t drawn by a professional artist, it was drawn by someone stuck in the UK prison system. And then you’ve got critics and art students piling on over a £100 prize?
Art, at least to me, should reflect the psychological state and worldview of the person who made it. The drawing itself is almost completely devoid of identity or expressive intent, which actually feels revealing rather than incompetent.

Probably better than i could draw with the art supplies available in a prison.
