Of the 90 cases, 30 were voluntary. These individuals either chose another nationality or formally renounced their Dutch citizenship. Twice as many lost their citizenship due to fraud or involvement in terrorist activities.

These numbers are crazy low to me, seeing what is entering our country

What people probably don’t understand is that the immigration system in NL today is very different from 10+ years ago, the deeply problematic waves of immigration over a few decades are not a thing anymore as there are minimum standards now and more hoops to jump though.

So 90 deportations in 4 years sounds reasonable

However I dont know about the situation irt illegal immigration to NL, if its anything like the countries I am familiar with then 90 is likely to be on the horrendously low side, and i don’t mean American style ‘deport everyone illegal’, but in terms of those who do really bad things after entering illegally, it’d be a number far higher than 90, but I dont know the situation in NL so cant say at the moment.

Ah I see the usual r/europe racists are here. Remember before you comment about crime Netherlands murder and violent crime rates are the lowest they’ve been since the 1970s.

That’r ridiculous, citizenship isn’t a subscription. If it is OK to cancel the citizenship of a new citizen when they are a bad deal, then when the country is a bad deal citizens should start switching to better country providers then? This devalues the meaning of citizenship to junk levels.

What’s next NL? Should ASML people cancel their citizenship, get an American one and move to US maybe?

Any of the former IDF soldiers lost theirs yet? Oh no, they are elected in parliament. What a joke.

    # Losing Dutch citizenship

    >If you only hold citizenship of the Netherlands, you will never automatically lose it. However, you can automatically lose your Dutch citizenship if you acquire another citizenship or if you have dual citizenship. The Government of the Netherlands can also actively revoke your Dutch citizenship.

    * You acquired Dutch citizenship through the [option procedure](https://ind.nl/en/dutch-citizenship/Pages/Option.aspx) or [naturalisation](https://ind.nl/en/dutch-citizenship/Pages/Naturalisation.aspx) and you gave an undertaking that you would renounce the current citizenship that you hold. If you have not have not made every effort to give up your current citizenship after you acquired Dutch citizenship, your Dutch citizneship may be revoked.
    * You committed fraud during the option procedure or naturalisation, for example identity fraud. Fraud includes making a false declaration, practising some form of deception or failing to mention relevant facts. In this case, you will become [stateless](https://www.government.nl/topics/dutch-citizenship/statelessness) if you no longer hold your original citizenship.
    * You have been convicted of an offence against the interests or security of the Koninkrijk der Nederlanden (Kingdom of the Netherlands). Examples of such offences include war crimes and terrorist offences. Your Dutch citizenship may be revoked if doing so will not make you stateless.
    * You are aged 16 or over and have voluntarily joined the armed forces of a county at war with the Netherlands or one of the Netherlands’ allies.
    * You are 16 or older and have joined an organisation that poses a threat to national security. The Government of the Netherlands holds a list of such organisations.
