I’m sure people in the US will start resigning and being investigated too any day now right?

For people who don’t know. His chief of staff Morgan McSweeny was the guy who got him elected.
Every idea Starmer has goes through McSweeny first so it’s a big deal.

I imagine they knew full well about Mandelson and thought he would be a good ambassador since him and trump probably have the same tastes along with a shared friend

Keir Starmer has really terrible political judgement. So he decided to outsource all his political judgement to a guy who he thought could provide great political judgement and advice. It turns out after less than 6 months in power this same guy advised him to appoint Mandelson US ambassador, and ignore specific Epstein related warnings from US politicans, specific Epstein and general Mandelson character warnings from top Labour colleagues and Mandelson’s own professional history of having to resign for a) accepting undeclared loans from a rich chum and b) trying to get a UK passport for a wealthy chum.
So it turns out that Keir Starmer’s judgement is so bad he wasn’t even able to judge whose judgement he could trust to make decisions for him.
I used to think the gammons were being ridiculous when they said Starmer protected groomer gangs, but now it turns out he appoints paedophiles to important roles.Â

McSweeney only knows how to fight ‘the left’. He’s spent his entire time at the top of Labour clearing out anyone he sees as too progressive. His strategy of pivoting to the right won him a Labour landslide… but with wafer-thin majorities against a beleaguered Tory party. While good at elections, he has struggled to actually help Labour govern, having briefing wars with anyone and everyone, obsessively chasing Reform voters whilst Labour lose more support to the Greens and Lib Dems etc. I’d say good riddance but he has many protégés installed so I don’t imagine much change.
