> The Georgian government has submitted a draft law to parliament proposing a ban on the import of vehicles older than six years, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced at today’s government session.

> Kobakhidze claimed that the number of registered vehicles in Georgia has more than doubled over the past decade, rising from 864,000 in 2012 to over two million this year. He said the sharp increase has contributed to growing traffic congestion and a deteriorating environmental situation.

> The Prime Minister stressed that the proposed legislation is intended to address environmental and public health concerns, while also improving road safety and ensuring more comfortable mobility for citizens. Although the draft law includes several limited exceptions, Kobakhidze underscored that its primary goal is to prevent the import of vehicles older than six years.
