Don’t really see the attraction of it myself, but assuming he’s not looking for public money to build it, I suppose he can do as he likes.

Might be too big in scale for Dublin. More of a Vegas thing, I reckon. Also, would be about 10 years in planning.

Why is his posture so bad? Like a pint man sticking his chest out about to throw slaps.

  4. He can park it by the Dublin whitewater rafting centre, under the Liffey cable car.

If it’s like the Spire, it’ll be built to be iconic but ends up very underwhelming.

As opposed to, say, the Poolbeg chimneys which became iconic completely unintentionally.

When you try and force these things, it doesn’t work apart from being a handy meeting spot or something for tourists to be disappointed by.

well if it’s the guy behind the Dublin Wax Museum, one of the worst tourist attractions I’ve ever visited anywhere, I’m certainly convinced this massively ambitious plan is a runner!

People can come visit it on the high-speed loop train going under under the Irish Sea that was getting clicks earlier in the week.

I might be in a minority here but I don’t see why not! It could be cool

It’s sounds awful stupid and tacky. And to be honest the Dublin wax museum is comically bad

  9. I walk past the Wax Museum all the time so can’t help but wonder what the people that made that wax figure of Father Ted would do to a project like this.

The beautiful simplicity of the Angel of the North knocks this bland tat out of the water. This belongs in the Harvey Norman homewares department as an overpriced generic lamp stand.

Sounds like the kind of thing a 10-year-old would come up with.

I am in favour of public art for the sake of having art, and obviously taste is subjective, but this just seems like it would be gaudy as fuck.

I see one of the examples given on the linked website is smaller indoor versions for shopping centres etc. That seems perfect to me, stick it in a shopping centre with the escalators going either side, it can be lit up as Santa at Christmas time, and a fancy light show the rest of the year.

But as to having it in the middle of a city? No thank you.

I support it only if it is a giant Mr Tayto instead

I think we can safely discard his ideas so. When your business is one that people only go to because they cringe at how bad it is, what possible merit do you can think you can bring to an even larger project?

The best attractions in this country are the likes of the Titanic Museum and the Guinness Storehouse. If those lads are behind something – I’ll sit up and pay attention.

I’m all for ambitious art projects for the city. If they’re for the sake of art. THIS is an oddly shaped billboard and will be used primarily to advertise. Nah

Have we seriously not learned from bike sheds and printers that we should put our tax money into helping the people and not useless shyte?

We should worry about the giant homelessness crisis first
