Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Britain is no longer the country that voted for Brexit and vowed to build a closer relationship with the European Union.

Appearing on stage Saturday alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the Munich Security Conference, Starmer said he’ll pursue tighter UK-EU relations on defense and trade “with some urgency.”

“We are not the Britain of the Brexit years any more,” he said to loud applause from an audience of mainly diplomats and officials.

“Be in no doubt,” he said, “if called upon, the UK would come to your aid today.”

    Well that’s beautiful 🥲

Trade? Nope.. you are out. Military? Yes. You are not an ennemy.

Less ideology, more pragmatism. That’s probably what both the UK and EU need right now.

They voted to exit and the left is not popular at all in the UK right now, so probably they’re even more pro Brexit ATM (even if the economic consequences make it hard to understand for us). I think starmer should respect his citizens. I don’t like him at all, it’s not the first time he pretends not to understand his own citizens, like with the freedom of speech issue. If he wasn’t in Europe or a leftist, we’d be saying he’s authoritarian and worrying

That’s interesting. It wasn’t his position on Europe in the lead up to the election when he was trying to secure a mandate for government.

  8. Dead man walking. Biggest landslide win in his election and he’s doing absolutely nothing for his country (other than appointing known nonces as representatives).

We’re much better off without nonce island in the EU.

The brits saved us back in the day, they are welcome to come back any time

When a far-centre extremist like Starmer takes a position, things must be obvious to the absurd.

  11. Brexit was a Russian hit job. Literally in Dugins book and all. Need to get the UK back into the EU because theres Vatniks needing whacking and they wont fuck off till they’re made to.

Brexit was a Russian strategy. Never should have happened. We never thought it would. We never took these threats seriously but the return on UK back to the EU is inevitable. We can’t let these pensioners ever dictate our futures when they have such limited time in this earth. We will return, only a matter of time to correct this monumental disastrous mistake. It will happen within my lifetime.

Warning to the rest of Europe, do not let the political conversation about migration lead you into thinking that the solution is to self sabotage and castration. They will sell you lies and deceive you while pocketing off of your sorrows. In a democracy you may not like the rules, you may not like the leadership but trust in the process and work with each other to find a solution, be willing to compromise and settle these disputes. Have these difficult conversations but always keep them factual and be weary of outside influences.
