      Washington can s*ck my big fat European c*ck! Europe needs to gain full technological autonomy, Europe needs to protect its food autonomy, Europe needs to expand its military autonomy. The USA has proven itself to be an unstable and dare i say politically hostile international actor.

      OK, let me try giving a serious answer here:

      History tells us:

      The snowden files showed the NSA forced backdoors in to cisco routers sent to outside of the US.

      the CLOUD act gives the american government access to any data hosted by american companies anwhere in the world .

      project echelon intercepted bid details from airbus, and the us government shared this data with boeing and mcdonnal douglas to win the 6 billion bid.

      SO please, based on this information, what reason would europeans have, to trust the US government? In all fairness, the US tries to blame China for similar practises, while they’re the ones which are actually cought doing so. If anything, you could argue China is being more honest in their action than the USA, especially since the orange geriatric baboon is in power.

      Remember, american redditors: you’re judged on your actions, not your words.

If US thinks that comparing US tech with Chinese tech is ‘a giant false equivalency’ then it is time for USA to give guarantees that they will ***never refuse*** to deliver electronics to EU under any conditions at all, and that they give guarantees that they will ***never*** ***invade*** Greenland. I will want Trump, JD Vance and Mike Johnson to literally beg Europe for forgiveness on their bare knees. [Literally](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/literally), word for word.       So, just FYI, anyone: Today NYT reported that US Homeland Security has sent Google, Meta and other companies (like Reddit) hundreds of subpoenas for information on accounts that track or comment on Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It is already clear, where this is going.

      American Tech can’t guarantee any independence from US admin, anymore. Europe should really hurry, to drop any tech, that is pushing data of European citizens and businesses to some cloud. And most importantly no fucking Palantir used by European authorities.

      Which is their way of saying “we want our security but for someone else to help pay for it”.
      The US claim to want a partnership, which would be fine if they didn’t demand that “all” development were to be done by the US and embed backdoors and kill-switches iinto just about everything they sell to the world.

      Personally, I would prefer if EU/US/China simply agreed on standards and made their own stuff.
      If the EU made their own equivalent and simply kept doing security tests on said equipment, then they’d have less of a reason to depend on the US.
      Also, considering that trade-agreements or sanctions against european citizens can come down to whether the tantrum-tyrant has filled his “Depends'(adult diapers) does not put much confidence in ANY partnership with the US.

      Please, more Independence from USA! I’ve been saying this since way before 2016 that America farts Europe runs to smell the cloud, and pretend it is perfume. I hope our individual country leaders and EU representatives become less meek and submissive.

      US can f right off. Europe is a continent of educated societies, not idiots. We have trusted US as an ally. Now it’s clear that we shouldn’t and couldn’t anymore and thus we take measures accordingly. Trying to convince Europe to share our data via US based technology will not fly anymore.

      Haha. EU needs its own web browser, msg app and perhaps linux distro and routers etc. Already went with lenovo, tp-link, cody and linux(mint). Bye USA tech would rather choose China over you.

      Yah they will be missed.imagine losing a quarter of all exports, oh wait thats what the USA did to Europe and Canada with tariffs.

      What we are seeing is the European Union trying to stop being a “customer” and become an independent “player.” Washington is pushing against this because the EU’s technological autonomy (control over its own chips, data, and artificial intelligence) threatens the dominance of large American companies (Google, Microsoft, Apple).

      I hope that when all this shit ends, americans will have to learn how to live within their own means, without the rest of the world pouring money into their economy.

      One thing is now pretty clear: the US is the leech of the world. It has to end.
