      African dictators are a strange sort, why would france support Islamic extremists in Niger, it just doesn’t make much sense.

      The world is on his ass.

      The putchist generals decided that they didn’t want the help France was giving fighitng the isamic state, and decided to go with Russia and Wagner.

      So, as asked by the Nigerien dictator France withdrew its military presence in Niger.

      Now, as foreseeable, Russia and Wagner, despite an extremely violent approach to the conflict; have fucked it up, and the islamic state is actually winning.

      And somehow this is France’s responsability?

      I know you guys dont want americas help, but it would be funny if a formal declaration is declared and article 5 is enacted. I would be in favor of supporting you.

      I guess the real risk here then is an attack on Benin.

      This reeks of desperation and a sign that the nigerien military regime’s days are numbered. The Eighth Republic of Niger cannot arrive soon enough. And yes Niger is on its Seventh Republic.

      “Okay, my armies from Niger are attacking western Europe, and next turn my buddy is gonna attack Greenland.”

      Why are former French colonies so dysfunctional? every time I open the newspaper there is another coup in a former French colony (eg Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Guinea, Gabon, haiti)

      France can laugh at Niger here if it wants, but it has an awful colonial legacy relative to, say, the brits

      r/europe is the all star game of intellect so an interesting response (ie this one) will be hidden by a mob of mouthbreathers that can’t find niger on a map. Pls don’t disappoint me 🤷

      Let’s get me this straight Mr. General-President? Your military, that couldn’t even stop like 40 dudes from taking and holding the airport of your capital for over 2 hours will take on one of the nuclear powers that ran a globally studied special forces blitzkrieg against the terror group you losing to and liberated your neighbouring country within weeks? What could possibly go wrong?
