    > India’s purchase of 114 French fighter aircraft remains subject to negotiation on the ‘details,’ which notably include local production.

Oh I thought it was like contract signed and sealed already.

    > According to the Indian Ministry of Defense, the majority of the aircraft “will be manufactured in India” – a point confirmed by the Elysée adviser, who stressed that this was part of New Delhi’s interest in the French jet. The daily newspaper the Indian Express, citing anonymous government sources, reported that the final agreement would require Dassault Aviation to build at least 90 of the fighter aircraft in India. The article also noted that Delhi wanted full authority to integrate Indian-made systems and weaponry into these locally produced aircraft.

Good news for India if those are indeed the terms.

    > The world’s most populous country, with 1.4 billion inhabitants, India has made modernizing its armed forces an absolute priority, especially due to tensions with China and Pakistan – two nuclear-armed neighbors. After a terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, India and Pakistan clashed for four days in May 2025. The Indian Air Force – largely made up of aging Russian aircraft – emerged severely depleted from the confrontation. It lost at least one Rafale, the first such loss for Dassault in a conflict.

Not sure one can reasonably characterise that as **Dassault’s** loss.
