Ah! I’ve always seen that escalator in the baggage reclaim and wondered what the craic with it was
Used it with TUI a couple times on family holidays. Can’t remember the experience as it was always early in the morning. But very retro in that it was always a packed line of people checking lots of bags due to the type of charter. Very different experience than online check in and bag drop that we are used to with Ryanair and aer lingus
Area 14
It wasn’t meant to be a metro or train station that’s a myth
I used it when I flew to Bergen with Wideroe last year.
It’s used for the odd charter flights, it’s a bit dingy but because everyone is on the same flight you get out of there quick enough
Grimmest part of the airport to be getting an early flight from
Do I remember this from a few years ago just being a bit empty space and people asking WTF was going on with it?
Feel like it mighta been set up as something that almost looked like a hotel conference room at one point.
I remember when they opened it, pre T2 as an interim step for Aer Lingus given how tight everything was in T1 at the time. I’ve used it with I think Turkish Airlines one time. Nothing particularly odd or special about it.
Used it any time I’ve flown with Turkish Airlines. I always get there an hour before check-in, because the queue builds up quickly.
Pretty sure I used this going to Budapest a few years ago with Aer Lingus. 2021 I think.
Dublin Airport’s equivalent of Area 51.
This was used as an overflow check in area for a bit during Covid for social distancing purposes. I’d never been in it before and with me being able to coast through the rest of the airport on autopilot, it was like unlocking a new map/level.
My first post COVID flight used that area for oversized luggage, it was a grim experience with massive queues and plenty of panicked passengers watch a group of 10 golfers have to put the clubs through 3-4 times each for unknown reasons.
