RSA are the ones who say they cant use data on crashes, because of GDPR?

The reflective bib authority are useless. Good riddance to them.

Don’t see what this achieves. It’s the complete lack of enforcement by AGS that has created our culture of casual lawlessness on the roads. The RSA is effectively a body that exists solely to warehouse complaints, so all complaining about it does is to continue keeping AGS off the hook. Silly.

It’s not surprising that there’s a lot of pedestrian and cycling safety groups on there. The RSA’s response to issues around safety for the people those groups represent always seems to be “well make yourselves more visible”, while offering little in the way of data to back it up, or any serious vocal support for actually reducing the risks to those same groups. As has been pointed out on other posts on the topic recently, their solution is PPE, when anyone who’s done a SafePass can tell you that PPE is a last line of defence, removing the risk factors is far more effective in preventing accidents and injuries.

From the article yesterday about the IRHA going to whatever committee and stating their lack of confidence in the RSA, the cynic in me thinks that what they really want is to make it easier to train drivers who aren’t in the country (simulators, remote learning etc.). But if all that leads to shorter wait times for driving tests for normal drivers and improvements in the quality of training and testing for drivers, then it’s hard to argue against their recommendations.

I would also point out though that a number of the names on that list appear to be repeated, so it’s not as many groups as the image would suggest.

RSA statment : “in light of recent comments we feel the only reasonable thing to do is suggest the speed limit is reduced by a further 5kph”

Not familiar with the RSA situation, what has triggered all this?

The biggest pack of gombeens in this country. High vis merchants, preaching decades old and scientifically debunked claptrap.

Considering most of them appear to be cyclists or cycling organisations who would prefer to see no cars on the road and act as if there aren’t- you could take their vote of no confidence and heartily deride it

Best part is you know these bodies won’t agree on the vision to replace RSA.

  11. Well they definitely need the country councils to do anything meaningful as the current list is an unimpressive list of raggle taggle minor groups.

How has Galway got 3 groups on the list, each one a small non-entity.
Maybe if they united, they might be a bit more impactful.

Some gombeen from the IRHA was on Claire Byrne’s show yesterday talking about how crap the RSA are and truckers are fabulous who don’t need CPD, except for them foreigners driving trucks who are responsible for all of the poor truck driving you see. Then he got started on them foreigners on bikes who don’t understand Irish culture and the rules of the road. All this went unchallenged by the host.

I did laugh when he said it was important ‘not to throw the baby out with the dishwasher…; A colossus of a mind.

RSA was created to take the heat off the minister for transport.

One of the few things in the country working as intended.

Good, they’re utterly incompetent and demonstrate this to me any time I have to deal with them. I will never get over having 7 theory tests cancelled in a row on me during Covid and shite examiner that failed me for reasons she literally made up on the spot. (I entered a junction on a green light, the learner in front of me stalled inside the yellow box for about a minute while I waited behind outside of the box and I exited the junction while it was amber behind him so as not to block the junction for an entire light cycle)
