American companies in Europe: Please don’t buy European!

I mean, I’m not surprised we’re lobbying against this. We’re absolutely fucked if this goes ahead.
As are European companies who manufacture in the UK. EU based companies who import huge numbers from the UK will also be affected.

>Critics have branded it protectionist, and several member states have sought to water down the definition of “made in Europe” to ensure access for like-minded countries.
But hasn’t this been the EU-standard for decades : access to my market if you’re friendly ?
My main problem is that the auto-industry has been heavily subsidized and has therefore been very complacent with innovation.

“The European Commission’s push to embed a so-called European preference in public procurement is triggering heavy lobbying from EU capitals and foreign partners”
“The proposal, designed to counter Chinese and US competition, would see products made in Europe officially favoured in public contracts and support schemes. Critics have branded it protectionist, and several member states have sought to water down the definition of “made in Europe” to ensure access for like-minded countries.”
So not just companies, but also states, and only those outside of the EU. I was going to make a joke about the third country companies that were coming out of the wood work when their access was threaten but it seem to be a wider group than first expected.
