Every time a new playground goes up in Dublin it’s basically a countdown timer to when it gets torched. Diamond Park was barely open five minutes before the whole thing ended up “melted and twisted” like a bad 3am kebab. And the poor parents are standing there going, *“Why someone would put a match to a playground, I do not understand.”* Same, Orla. Same.
Meanwhile the council response is:
Step 1: Fence it off.
Step 2: Announce repairs “in due course”.
Step 3: Do absolutely nothing for six months while it becomes a feral hangout spot.
We’ve somehow built a country where teenagers have nowhere to go, playgrounds cost €300k, and the solution is always “stick up a CCTV camera that won’t identify anyone anyway”.
