There’s a meme saying that when the govt promised 100 000 jobs, they meant there will be 100 000 jobs left

Honestly, if the country still runs, maybe there is simply not that much to do anymore

I would love to see a deep dive into the details behind these stats and see how comparable they actually are. I think number of employed divided by number of working age population would be a better number?
Gemini summary on Mexico:
In Mexico, to be officially counted as unemployed (desempleo abierto), an individual must be 15 or older, have worked 0 hours in the reference week, be actively searching for work, and be available to start. Due to the large informal economy, many people working minimal hours or in subsistence jobs are classified as employed, resulting in a low official rate.

I don’t mind some reforms on the immigration policy…But this is clearly not the time to think about that while your country has such a huge unemployment rate; fix the economy/jobs situation first ffs…
And I am quite sure that the immigration’s “issue” will partially fix itself once everyone will have a stable job.

There was recently article about this. The native’s unemployment rate has been stable at about 7.8% while immigrant (born abroad) unemployment rate has doubled from 10% to 20% from 2023 to 2026.

So it seems that unemployment issue is also (at least partially) an immigration issue.
FYI France policies in Macron last terms has been removing a lot of people from official unemployment statistics.
