Il Comitato del Turismo dell’Armenia ha annunciato che sono in corso trattative per il lancio di voli diretti tra Yerevan e Los Angeles. Il presidente della commissione Lusine Gevorgyan ha dichiarato che tale rotta è tecnicamente fattibile grazie alla capacità della Turkish Airlines e alla forza della sua rete globale.
Secondo quanto riportato dalla stampa armena, Gevorgyan ha affermato di aver ricevuto una forte domanda per la rotta Yerevan-Los Angeles, aggiungendo: “Questa è una delle nostre nuove destinazioni negoziate. È troppo presto per dire quando verrà lanciato, ma è al centro della nostra agenda.” Sottolineando che la Turkish Airlines è una delle compagnie aeree più forti al mondo, Gevorgyan ha osservato che la compagnia ha il potenziale necessario.
La rotta Istanbul-Yerevan inizierà a marzo
È stato inoltre annunciato che Turkish Airlines inizierà i voli diretti tra Istanbul e Yerevan a partire dall’11 marzo 2026. I voli sono inizialmente previsti con sette frequenze settimanali, aumentando a 10 frequenze settimanali dal 14 maggio e a 14 frequenze settimanali dal 15 giugno.
Secondo quanto riferito, la compagnia ha lanciato campagne promozionali rivolte agli utenti dei social media di lingua armena riguardo ai nuovi piani di volo in partenza da Yerevan.
Se verranno lanciati voli diretti tra Yerevan e Los Angeles, si prevede che forniranno un’importante alternativa di trasporto, soprattutto per la grande diaspora armena che vive negli Stati Uniti. La tempistica relativa all’esito dei negoziati non è stata ancora chiarita.

Wouldn’t the people in the diaspora be especially against using Turkish Airlines for a trip like this? I’m interested to see how this is going to unfold.
I don’t know how to feel about it.
Net positive, I think, but damn, why would you give the route to Turks when you can have Americans flying it (and marketing to Americans). The route will 100% be profitable, in this I have no doubt.
Besides, we have to give 6th or 7th freedom of the sky for it to Turkish Airlines. Did we even give that right to any other company? I cannot think of a precedent.
I don’t know many in LA that would book that flight.
I really hope this doesn’t happen, because it’s going to fail for obvious reasons and other airlines will get discouraged from ever implementing a LA-Yerevan flight. They will think it’s not a viable route, without understand that most Armenians didn’t want to fly with a Turkish airline.
