Don’t raise your hopes too high. Magyar is just as nationalist as Orban, he is just less corrupt because he doesn’t have the connections that Orban has after 15 years in power.

As far as Europe is concerned, it’s very simple really: it’s hard to be more anti-EU than Orban, so nothing can go worse than it currently is on that matter

We have been waiting for a post Orban Hungary for 15 years. We are tired.

    1) He hasn’t won yet, and Orban might not want to play by the rules. A lot can go wrong in the, what, 6-7 weeks left? I’m not getting my hopes up.

    2) Being better than Orban is in incredibly low bar. If he does become Hungary’s next PM, I wonder how much better than Orban he’ll end up being.

If Orban loses, Hungary will have to deal with apocalyptic temper tantrum and desire of former government to go back in power. In Poland we’ve already lost against populists in 2025 presidential election and it looks like PiS will form a government with far-right lunatics in 2027. I hope it’ll end differently for Hungary.
