His mugshot paints a picture. I was pleasantly surprised reading the sentence as these things go.

Chances are won’t do the full sentence and will exit just to do the same sort of thing again to some other poor woman.

The casual acceptance of violence against women (which has been going on for fkn thousands of years) is extremely depressing.

“Yeah, well, she should have left him.”

  3. It really makes me think about how much hell her life must have been during lockdown.

The sentences are always so pathetic. You can completely take away a victim’s chance of a life and only lose a small slither of your own. Nobody that does this to someone for no reason should ever be out amongst the public again.

Reading stuff like this is why im terrified of my daughter growing up and dating. I have to trust a complete stranger not to ruin her life.

What a weak a pathetic excuse of a man.

He should get life in prison

If a woman wants to leave, show her the door, plenty of other women out there.

You know what I find interesting? If this man was Pakistani or Indian that would be all over the headline.

Surely, it would read “violent immigrant leaves partner paralysed”.

However, since it’s a British white man it just says what it says.

I wonder if I can go to that racist sub called r/uknews and post something along the lines of “British man leaves partner paralysed” just to watch their reaction.

I’m unclear why “Man who paralysed his partner has been jailed” was insufficient as a headline.

The context is uninteresting here – loads of couples break up all the time. The vast majority of the people involved don’t batter their ex-partner for it.

I hope she gets a lot from the victim compensation fund and the go fund me by her children, so she is able to come home fully soon and have the best care. To lose your husband, and for her children to lose their father and then go through this is horrific. Thinking of all of them, hope his time in prison is a daily hell.

Doesn’t seem right that this is consider ABH and not GBH.

(“ABH refers to the act of inflicting harm beyond temporary pain or discomfort whereas GBH refers to the act of causing serious harm that has long-term physical or psychological impacts”- lawstons solicitors)

Severing spinal chord seems serious enough to count as permanent but seems it doesn’t count if skin isn’t cut or if it was an accident in a minor scuffle. Can someone shed some light on this?
