Problem isn’t really Starmer’s fault though. It’s the dementia-riddled orange nonce currently stinking out the White House

  2. totallyclips on

He means, when they did what they were told and didn’t talk back

  3. FornyHucker22 on

    Fuck America 😐

They are like the drug addicted cousin you hope won’t turn up at family events

  4. CharmingTurnover8937 on

The US-UK special relationship has always been nonsense. A phrase wheeled out to make us feel special, essentially being seen as the US’s favourite pet.

I just wish we had it in us to actually rebuild our military. Then we wouldn’t have to lean on them for everything.

  5. Prize-Meeting-7101 on

US – anybodies relationship is not what it was. I wonder why ?

  6. Dissidant on

Don’t mistake the justified universal contempt of the IRGC for anyone with an ounce of critical thinking actually believing Trump, Smegbreath and co actually care about the Iranian people. The timing of this is on brand with his usual wag the dog antics with a side helping of helping their mates fiddle the markets

What seems lost on people is had we gone in on day one the same media outlets and opposition figures would be having a moan for participating. Its not the US admin who has to deal with the consequences when they inevitably get bored and de-ramp

  7. InitiativeOver7314 on

The UK should have decoupled from the US decades ago when we were in the EU.

  8. Similarly, I was sad to see that the houseplant I’d inherited from someone who neglected it for years, which I then used primarily as an ashtray, was not really flourishing.

  9. willNffcUk on

There is nothing special, like following America into another stupid war

  10. peakedtooearly on

I think the majority of us in the UK are pleased. Given the state of the US leadership at the moment.

  11. HighNimpact on

I think Trump is failing to recognise that him aligning himself against Starmer is making Starmer more popular in the UK – not less popular

  12. Cynical_Classicist on

Well, he’s kind of responsible. And lots of Brits are growing to hate the US, seeing it as a monstrosity of a country, choosing fascism with glee.

  13. dont_press_report on

It is sad to see two imperial elites suck Israeli dong.

  14. No_Story5313 on

Lol all he/his government have done is constantly lash out at us, and other allies,  since he’s been in post. Insulting our war dead, amongst other things…. then wonders why we’re not going all Yee Haw into war with them?

And he’s sad we’re not friends anymore? Jog on you fat, orange, demented weirdo.

You want to go bomb the Middle East, picking up that turd with your bare hands again? Go do it.

  15. I-left-and-came-back on

I wonder why that is Trump? Could it be because the US is run by a twat and this we don’t enjoy hanging around twats?

  16. No-Future5309 on

Maybe if he didnt put tarrifs on us every single time he didn’t get his own way we might have a better relationship with the US. He’s proven himself untrustworthy and no doubt the epstein files are making everyone weary of him as well.

  17. doobiedave on

If everywhere you go you get into arguments, after a while you’ve got to think the problem might be you.

  18. Front-Brick-3724 on

Special relationship? Wind your neck in noncey. It hasn’t been fucking special since we had to pay YOU for us winning world war 2.

We need a Hugh Grant prime minister situation. Tell them to jog on, we get very little from them and always have.
But we never will because capitalism is great…

  19. ReplacementFeisty397 on

Shouldn’t have a racist dementia patient and his christofascist clown-show in charge then.

  20. Sea-Payment-8989 on

What does he expect, that we’ll follow him to the ends of the Earth to hep him get what he wan’ts?

  21. JackStrawWitchita on

Trump’s Epstein Files Distraction War will drive up petrol prices, sink the global economy and drive voters even further away from Starmer.

  22. Major_Bag_8720 on

Screw Trump. He puts tariffs on us and then expects us to help him out?

  23. humptycabbages on

I wonder if he is concerned about getting into a war and not having british military support from far behind front line?

  24. Disastrous-Data-3299 on

To coin a cult classic UK phrase …. “That’s you that is”

  25. Codydoc4 on

The problem is that this simply acts as positive reinforcement for Trump and MAGA. For a decade now they’ve been criticising Europe, how much Europe spends on defense etc, and their takeaway will be that when the USA (in their view) needed its allies, those allies didn’t step up. This will only lead to a more fractured relationship.

  26. Latter-Corner8977 on

Oh fucking really, Donald? Who’s the one that was bending over backward, reaching out with an olive branch, constantly trying to bring you back from the edge and get you to honour your agreements?

    UK.

If the relationship has deteriorated it’s not our fault.

  27. MAXSuicide on

Out of interest, uk sub, what would you think of a CANZUK framework of some kind? In the absence of being part of the EU, and with Trump openly desiring people lay at the feet of his golden throne instead of being treated as partners…

    Any reason you would oppose?

3rd or 4th largest economy in the world, 8th? largest population, a military well up there too, even with the currently poor levels of financing in would-be member states (so room for substantial potential), high/similar living standards, law system, academic institutions etc, lots of technological know-how, resource security for many materials.

Would it not be a win-win across the political divide?

  28. TheOriginalScoob on

Basically if we don’t do exactly what you want then we are in your bad books. That’s just an abusive relationship and who in their right mind wants that.

  29. Brido-20 on

I’m also sad to see the carpet I urinated all over, gleefully and deliberately, is not what it was.

    The carpet’s fault obviously.

  30. About time we distanced ourselves from trump and any souring of the relationship is because of trump

  31. Single_Classroom_448 on

Obviously it’s a good thing that has occured if trump is criticizing it, we should be able to independently decide how we want to deal with issues internationally

  32. ServoSkull20 on

Not all that bothered about having a bad relationship with a paedophile, to be honest.

  33. Trump has ruined it by slapping us with tarrifs, being completely unreliable with Ukraine, akus, and pretty much everything in between.

  34. DifferentTrain2113 on

Fat ugly stinking blob of an old man launches a war to distract from his close friendship with a prolific paedophile. Starmer’s done right here. We don’t want to be part of their murderous death-cult.

  35. Dayzed-n-Confuzed on

The Orange King spends months talking shit and dumping tariffs on the UK and Europe. Then gets his arse out when we don’t jump into the shitstorm he’s just started.
Fuck em and the golf cart he rode in on. Go play with your new friends, if you have any!!!

  36. Correct-Junket-1346 on

Berates our fallen soldiers then wonders why we don’t join in, enjoy Israel, orange man

  37. CCFC1998 on

Wah the UK won’t blindly do what I tell them to do without questioning it anymore wah

  38. sombrekipper on

The relationship basically boils down to the fact we both speak English.

If America didn’t speak English as a main language, I think we’d have absolutely nothing in common with them.

It gives an illusion of kinship. It would be an alien land otherwise.

  39. Webcat86 on

I married an American, we have a dual citizenship child. The USA taxes its citizens not its residents, and chooses what is and isn’t recognised in the resident’s country. In our case, America doesn’t recognise ISAs and PFIC doesn’t allow for investing in funds not on the American market. Meaning that our son can have a junior ISA but the US will tax it like it isn’t an ISA, and punitively so if he holds something like an index fund. In effect, America’s tax regime puts a British-born citizen and resident at a financial disadvantage compared to other Brits, because America says so.

The only time I’ve seen this “special relationship” is when my now-wife originally applied for her visa. Because she was American, Britain allowed her to have an expedited application. But of course, if we decided to move there, no such courtesy would be given to me.

  40. donaldtherebellious on

Maybe JD Vance shouldn’t have slagged off Europe last year

  41. Valten78 on

The US has taken the piss for far too long. It’s been an extremely nonreciprocal relationship for quite some time now.

Way too much culture wars crap and evangelical money from America has been poisoning our discourse already.
